Emergency Management meeting

Reporter Sherry Koonce has been in contact with Jefferson County County Judge Ronald Walker and he told her a meeting was scheduled for 11 a.m. to decide whether to call off the mandatory evacuation. They are concerned that they are sending people into the path of the storm instead of keeping them safe in their homes.

I beleive that this should be lifted for those that feel safer in their homes. I feel that the counties jumped to far ahead and made a decision based on experience with RITA before making sure where the storm was headed. The weather channel even stated they were unsure of where it would hit. We wanted to stay in our home and stick it out, but we were forced to leave, and now the storm isnt no where near hitting us. We now have no funds left to pay for an extended hotel stay, no money barely for food just enough money for gas to get home!!! We have plenty of food at our home to survive on and resources to stay good within our home!!! All we want is to be able to get back into town because we have no family nor any where else to go. We have 4 dogs with us and the shelters will not take them and FEMA is not giving out any financial assistance like they did for RITA and it isnt far to us! PLEASE LIFT THE MANDATORY EVAC. SO THAT WE CAN COME HOME AND BE SAFE AND NOT OUT ON THE STREETS SLEEPING IN THE CAR WITH NO SHELTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
